RStudio - cross-platform integrated development environment (IDE) for R. Recommended.

Ubuntu - the most popular distribution of the GNU/Linux operating system.

OpenOffice - good alternative to MS Office.

zotero - a reference manager software with word processor integration. Great alternative to Endnote.

Marti J. Anderson - her FORTRAN programs are well-designed and very useful.
